Build & Release Engineer

SciSys has an opportunity for a Build and Release Engineer with a relevant computing degree or commercial experience – in particular experience of software deployment and the build process are required.

We would be willing to train a Java applications developer with the relevant essential skills and experience for this role. Initially working on a development project with an experienced Build and Release Manager, the individual will transition into a role performing Build and Release functions throughout the product delivery lifecycle.

As an individual, you will need to be a self-starter and capable of working under your own initiative to meet deadlines.  You will also need to have good interpersonal skills and be prepared to be flexible in moving from project to project.

Tasks will include:

Build and release management, including:

• Configuration and monitoring of continuous integration environments
• Installation and configuration of solution platforms
• Integration and deployment of complex solutions

Diagnosis of issues with solution infrastructure and application software

Essential skills and experience:

• Knowledge, understanding and exposure to Java programming (J2SE)
• Experience of deployments to application servers
• Knowledge of Apache Ant / Ivy
• Knowledge of Linux

Desirable skills and experience:

• Experience of deployments to IBM WebSphere Application Server
• Knowledge of Subversion
• Knowledge of continuous integration tools
• Knowledge of Apache Web Server
• Understanding of IT security

Any other information e.g. dual location, special security clearance, foreign languages:

• Eligible to work in the UK
• Must be able to obtain SC clearance
• Must be flexible and able to work out on site if necessary
