Overview:
Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex or portions of complex materials, structural components, and functional systems of company products. Generally work from preliminary studies developed by higher graded engineers. Analyze requirements for materials, structural component, or functional systems. Select applicable analytical data from previous products, determine the technical principles involved, mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications, design needs and requirements of other portions of the product. Release results as design data after review by higher graded engineer. Develop original ideas and elaborate on preliminary design concepts. Evaluate completed design with supervisor and other technical groups and make modifications necessary to achieve the most ideal design. Develop and coordinate the conduct of test programs required to evaluate design work.
Job Description:-Perform analysis, test, design and development for engineering projects. Design, develop and document components, hardware or software. Analyze requirements for material, structural components or functional system assignment. Release results as design data after review from other engineers. -Develop and/or approve detailed test procedures, test set up and instrumentation used. Test models, prototypes, subassemblies or production components. -Plan strategies for analysis, test and design used for task planning and execution. -Document results of analysis, test and design. -Develop original ideas on preliminary design concepts with other technical groups and make modifications necessary to achieve the most ideal design. -Prepare specifications and requirements.
Supports technical activities as part of a multi-discipline launch vehicle team under the guidance of a Lead Engineer. Helps research, design, develop, integrate, test, maintain, and document propulsion and ordnance systems. Researches and analyzes proposed design changes and process changes through the Configuration Management system. Resolves hardware discrepancies, including containment, root cause determination, and corrective action. Performs engineering analyses by applying sound engineering principles and techniques and publishes results in technical reports. Plans and executes tests, such as development, qualification, lot acceptance, and service life extension tests to ensure propulsion and ordnance systems meet internal and external requirements. Records, analyzes, and publishes test data in formal reports. Writes work instructions for test and integration activities. Produces a variety of engineering documentation including analyses, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics), and presentations. Monitors hardware allocations and service life to ensure program requirements are met. Performs other duties as assigned. Travel to field integration sites, suppliers, and test facilities will be required (approximately 25%).
Qualifications:Candidate shall possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, etc), plus two (2) or more years of related experience. Candidate must be able to secure a Secret clearance; current active clearance preferred, but not required. Good communication and presentation skills are required. Experience with aerospace propulsion systems is preferred, but not required (i.e. solid rocket motors and spacecraft propulsion systems). Experience with aerospace ordnance components or similar energetic devices also preferred, but not required (i.e. detonators, initiators, gas generators, ordnance transfer lines, shape charges). Working knowledge of discrepant material procedures and configuration management desired. Experience with shock and vibration testing of components desired. Integration and test experience with launch vehicles or spacecraft preferred.
