Galileo Mission Segment System Engineer

GALILEO MISSION SEGMENT SYSTEM ENGINEER (M/F)

Tasks and responsibilities

The holder of the position will supervise the evolutions of the Galileo Mission Segment (GMS) at system level. Currently one version is operational at Fucino (I) and one version will be installed at Oberpfaffenhofen (D). The GMS System Engineer will compile requirements ensuring functionality and operability of the system evolutions and follow the implementation projects, ensuring technical and schedule compliance.

The main tasks are:
  • Provide GMS expertise to SpaceOpal Integrated System Operations Team, in particular inputs to GMS Operations Engineering (Procedures, User Manuals, Databases);
  • Establish technical interface to GMS provider, ESA Galileo Project Office;
  • Participate to reviews, manage Anomaly Reports, Non Conformance Reports in particular impacts on operations and evaluate work-arounds and coordination with the Security Manager for classified elements;
  • Coordinating, as SpaceOpal representative, operations priorities.
The position is based in Munich, with frequent travels to other Galileo centres /suppliers in Europe.

Qualifications and experience:

The candidate must have several years of experience on complex IT, disseminated operational systems. He/she should hold a security clearance or is able to get one easily.

Further more knowledge of Galileo Mission Segment would be a distinct advantage

Fluency in English, the ability to work in international teams together with a high degree of autonomy and a pro-active and confident personality is needed.
