Overview:

Based on specific stated objectives perform analysis, design, or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems of company products. Without detailed direction, study basic design concepts and criteria for assigned complex materials, components, or functional systems to ascertain the engineering principles involved and to adopt features from previously successful designs of a similar nature. With general direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design of assigned complex components and functional systems. Study the operation of systems, select major components to meet functional and operational requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing, and service standpoint. Direct the more detailed analysis and design and follow up to assure compliance with original philosophy and good engineering practices. Develop general test program to evaluate new materials of products.

Job Description:

Candidate shall be responsible for providing engineering technical support for a variety of tasks including, selection of materials, manufacturing processes reviews, material testing, conducting failure analysis and manufacturing troubleshooting. Hands-on experience is required in the areas of non-metallic’s including, polymers, adhesives and carbon composites. Candidate shall be responsible for gathering, maintaining, formatting, compiling and manipulating technical data such as laboratory or material test reports and writing analyses and reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of materials degradation mechanisms such as creep, corrosion and fatigue and fracture is preferred.

Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics.

Five years of related experience is required.

Candidate shall have demonstrated experience in the materials engineering discipline. In-depth and thorough knowledge of plastics, adhesives, elastomers and composites is required. Strong background in metallic, polymeric materials and processing including material selection, characterization, and testing are desired.
