Overview:

Serve as a professional authority in one engineering discipline or specialty area. Conduct preliminary and advanced design studies and prepare and present major portions of engineering proposals. Conceive and develop solutions to complex analytical, design, and test problems that program(s) experience. Contribute to systems philosophy and design objectives. Analyze and resolve important failures in test and service, often without recourse to intense theoretical studies and test programs. Assure continuity of design features from advanced design through contract completion. Write complex specifications and engineering reports as a result of advance studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities. Develop aspects of new theory and design criteria for general application.

Job Description:

Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for the National Security Systems (NSS) program area. This position offers the opportunity to work on an exciting, cutting-edge research-and-development and flight programs.

Primary duties are leading the space vehicle systems engineering activities for an on-orbit program. This will include trending on-orbit performance, developing and evaluating new modes of operation, supporting the operations staff with day-to-day technical activities and leading the anomaly resolution process for on-orbit issues. Advanced analyses relating to mission and technical problems may be required. The candidate must be knowledgeable in aerospace systems, spacecraft subsystems design, integration and test expertise, and mission operations. Candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies and may include authoring sections for both.

Additional experience in any of the following areas is also desired: spacecraft system design and orbital mechanics. As a Master Engineer I, the successful candidate will have strong technical skills, ability to organize and direct the efforts of an engineering team, and demonstrated motivation to investigate new concepts.

The position requires the ability to prepare and present reviews for internal and external customers. The candidate will have regular interaction with the internal engineering and program management team as well as the external customer.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in an applicable engineering discipline, plus 12 years of applicable experience. Candidate must have a TS and SCI security clearance. Must have strong spacecraft subsystem knowledge and experience. Must have operations experience. Must have good communications skills and ability to lead team.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in an applicable engineering discipline is highly preferred.

Required Education/Experience:
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Chemistry, Engineering, Math, Physics.
Twelve years of related experience is required.
