Support Analyst
TasksSciSys has an opportunity for a graduate/junior support analyst with some commercial experience - in particular JAVA skills are required. Initially working with a build manager during the project development cycle before moving to support as the project enters the live phase.
Responsibilities include:
- responsibility for integration, deployment and support of complex solutions;
- responsibility for creation, installation, configuration and maintenance of solution platforms;
- responsibility for delivery of build artifacts to the customer;
- build and release management;
- incident and problem diagnosis and resolution of solution infrastructure and application software within agreed service levels;
- configuration, maintenance and monitoring of continuous integration environments.
As an individual, you will need to be a self-starter and capable of working under your own initiative to meet deadlines. You will also need to have good interpersonal skills and be prepared to be flexible in moving from project to project.

Essential skills:
- Experience of deployments of and to IBM WebSphere
- Knowledge of Apache Ant/Ivy
- Understanding of J2SE 5 and higher
- Knowledge of JEE
- Knowledge of Linux
- Understanding of IT security
Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of Java Unit Test and Web Test frameworks (JUnit, Canoo Webtest)
- Understanding/deployment of and to WebSphere Dynamic Process Edition, Portal, MQ, Process Server
- Knowledge of Subversion
- Knowledge of continuous integration methodology (using Cruise Control or Hudson)
- Accreditation in any of the above WebSphere products
- Knowledge of ITIL Framework, ideally v3
- Knowledge of Oracle
- Knowledge of Java Messaging
- Knowledge of Apache Web Server
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and .net architecture
Personal Skills
- Flexibility to work in the delivery stage and ongoing support of the software lifecycle e.g. possible evenings/weekends
- Ability to think through problems and what their causes might be to give information back to the support development teams
- Ability to work autonomously in pressure situations
- Be comfortable and diplomatic with customers in explaining complex builds/problems to customers
- Be able to convey knowledge to customer representatives
- Enthusiasm to lead and develop technical and leadership skills
- Good documentation skills
- Aptitude to establish a ‘centre of excellence’ to deliver internal and external support and consultancy for the WebSphere product set.
Any other information e.g. dual location, special security clearance, foreign languages:
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Must be able to obtain SC clearance
- Must be flexible and able to work out on site if necessary
